Explore, eat and drink with a Bacaro Tour Venice

The bacaro tour is a very common custom among Venetians. In the Venetian dialect, bacaro actually means bar. The expression therefore literally indicates “going from bar to bar” for an aperitif or to drink a glass of wine.

The bacaro tour of Venice is a true local tradition. With this experience, designed to help you discover authentic Venice through taste and conviviality, you will visit historic bacari and taste the typical Venetian cicchetti.

For those who don’t know what Venetian “cicchetti” are, these small, savory, and crispy delicacies range from crostini with fresh fish specialties, such as “sarde in saor” (sweet and sour sardines) and marinated anchovies, to the unmissable creamed cod (“baccalà mantecato”) served on a slice of bread, and the delicious fried mozzarella sandwiches (“mozzarelle in carrozza”).

This bacaro tour Venice is the ideal opportunity to experience Venice like a true Venetian, away from the most popular tourist routes. You will explore hidden gems in the areas near the Rialto Bridge or in the Cannaregio district, enjoying the specialties of Venetian cuisine.

What do our Bacaro Tour Venice include?

The tour is designed for approximately 10 people to ensure quality, as space in the “bacari” is always limited. Larger groups will be divided into smaller subgroups, each accompanied by a dedicated expert Venetian tour guide.

  • A total of 3 visits to the best Venetian “bacari” are planned.
  • At each stop, you will be able to enjoy 1 aperitivo (glass of white wine or Spritz, or a non-alcoholic option) and 2 cicchetti per person.

It is important to note that, given the nature of the “bacari,” it is not guaranteed that you will be able to sit down during the stops, but this will contribute to making the experience even more authentic, precisely because aperitifs and “cicchetti” are often served at the counter and enjoyed standing. Please also remember that after booking, you will be contacted to choose whether to take the tour at the “bacari” in the Rialto area or those in the Cannaregio area.

Ghost and Bacaro Tour Venice: two experiences in one!

What do you think about a slightly more extended bacaro tour that includes a mystery tour? A truly special 3-hour experience where the guide, instead of focusing on gastronomy, will lead you to discover the darkest secrets and legends of Venice!

  • 3 visits to historic Venetian bacari.
  • At each stop, you can enjoy 1 aperitivo (glass of white wine or Spritz, or non-alcoholic option) and 2 cicchetti per person.

Food and wine tour Venice Italy

Joining a food and wine tour in Venice Italy exploring the cicchetterie of Venice is more than just tasting food; it is an immersion into the daily rhythm of Venetian life. It’s about sharing convivial moments and uncovering the most genuine flavors the city has to offer – a true journey into the vibrant heart of Venice.

Don’t confuse Venetian “cicchetti” with the usual snacks of olives and peanuts. In Venice, a cicchetto is a small portion of  good local food, often part of the culinary tradition. Cicchetterie are the typical Venetian taverns, welcoming places with few seats, often high stools or outdoor tables. They abound throughout the city, from the Rialto market, near the famous Rialto Bridge, to the areas close to Piazza San Marco.

However, it is important to remember that cicchetterie are not places to eat gourmet dishes like in a restaurant; on the contrary, they are true meeting points, places where you can unwind after a long day of work or study. Each one of these special places has its own specialty, its “house” cicchetto, the result of handed-down recipes or bold experimentation.

The term cicchetto is, in fact, very broad and includes various dishes: fish, cured meats, hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, or even sautéed vegetables. The choice is wide and varies according to the season and the chef’s inspiration, of course. Whether it’s a more classic choice, like a crispy mixed fry, or more original, like a taste of octopus and potato salad, the perfect pairing is always excellent glasses of wine or a Spritz!

Experience a unique food and wine journey and enjoy glimpses of the most authentic Venice, perhaps even venturing to St Mark’s Square area and discovering hidden wine bars along the way.
