We want you to come into contact with a different and, we think, more fascinating and liveable reality on a human scale. The sestiere of Castello is the most eastern part of the historic centre. St Mark's Square is not far away but there are not the large flows of people that characterise other areas of Venice. Here you can breathe in the soul of the city and immerse yourself in its lifestyle.
Castello is a lesser known sestiere than others but it contains some of the most important areas for the history and life of Venice; above all the Arsenale and the Giardini. For this reason, as well as letting you experience it with a stay at Boutique Hotel Indigo, we have thought of letting you discover it with an evocative semi-private walking tour.

With your guide, you will set off from Sant'Elena to discover the Castello district, the most authentic area of Venice. You will get to know the lesser-known part of the island, the Venice of the Venetians.
You will admire the grandeur of the Arsenale and listen to its fascinating history; this is where the real power of the Serenissima resided, here the galleys that won the battle of Lepanto were built.
You will enter the Giardini, the great green lung of the city wanted by Napoleon, now home to the Biennale and a public park for the whole city.
Continuing your walk, you will pass by the most original bookshop in Venice, hidden in a small Venetian courtyard: the Libreria Acqua Alta.
