For the masquerade ball Carnival Extravaganza you can walk through the doors of one of Giacomo Casanova’s favourite places: the Salone del Ridotto (now part of the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal)! It was the centre of the sumptuous Venetian carnivals of the 18th century, frequented by the nobles, gamblers and adventurers of the time.

During the party you will enjoy a musical-theatre show in which the artists will bring to life the funniest Carnival atmospheres of the past.

Live music from the orchestra, rigorously dressed in period costume, will accompany the entire evening with song interludes, imaginative suggestions and ballets.

Period dances will make guests the real stars of the party. You will be able to learn the basic steps of the dances of the European courts of the 18th and 19th centuries under the expert guidance of the dancing masters.

Carnival Extravaganza: The evening’s program

• 8:00 pm: entrance to the Saloni del Ridotto of the Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal and the welcome drink.
• 8:30 p.m.: start of the dinner in the Main Hall of the Ridotto, with group dances and performances.
• 00:30 a.m.: conclusion of the evening.

Carnival Extravaganza Venice: costume rental

For those who do not have their own period costume can choose the ticket with costume rental bookable in the atelier at the historic center of Venice for one day (on request it is possible to extend by one day with a special rate).

The costumes are in three categories according to the workmanship done – STANDARD and SUPERIOR. Examples of the period costumes can be found in this CATALOG. Costume categories.

• STANDARD category: period costumes inspired by European fashion of the 1700s and 1800s with quality fabrics and trimmings. Created in Venice, they are unique models not mass-produced.

• SUPERIOR category: more elaborate period costumes inspired by the fashion of European courts in the 1700s and 1800s with fine fabrics and trimmings. Unique models not mass-produced and made in Venice.

The dress rental includes:

Men: the costume plus all essential accessories (shirt, jabot, tights, shoe bows).

Woman: the costume plus all the essential accessories (basket or cages, petticoats) and any accessories that are part of the costume itself (strangles, handbags, brooches, etc.).

All other accessories are not included in the price: masks, wigs, hats, capes, etc. are separate but not compulsory, with costs varying according to the model.

The choice of costumes is made directly at the atelier, where the tailors can make any changes to the chosen outfits.

After the purchase you will receive an email from the atelier to make an appointment for choosing and trying on the costume shortly before the date of the event.
