To get to the airport from Venice train station you can choose between a private transfer and a shuttle to Venice airport.
First of all, we need to understand which station you are leaving from because Venice has two railway stations:
- Venezia Santa Lucia: this is the train station of Venice, it is already on the island just two minutes walk from Piazzale Roma;
- Venezia Mestre: is the station of the city of Mestre, on the mainland.
This is an important clarification before we go into the question of transport from Venice station to the airport. From Santa Lucia there is no direct shuttle bus to the airport, but don’t worry, the solution is just a few meters away! The station of Venice, in fact, is located a few steps (and a single bridge) from Piazzale Roma where all transfers to the airport depart.
Between them, the two stations of Venice are 9 km away and are separated by the long Ponte della Libertà that connects the Venetian hinterland with the island of Serenissima. For this reason the solutions to get to Marco Polo airport with the means of transport are different.
Let’s see them together in detail.
From Venice Santa Lucia train station to the airport by bus
We said, the Santa Lucia train station is just a few meters away from Piazzale Roma. And it is here that you have to go to take the ATVO express bus, the only direct shuttle to Marco Polo airport. This is the fastest and most comfortable transfer: in just 20 minutes, without intermediate stops, you will reach the terminal in a modern bus equipped with free and unlimited Wi – Fi on board.
The price of the ticket is 8€ for one way and 15€ for the round trip; the price also includes the transport of one suitcase per person. To save time and without additional costs you can buy your ticket online. Don’t know where to print your tickets? No problem! You can get on board simply with the electronic ticket that you will receive by email!
Direct shuttle service from Venice Mestre station to the airport
And very easy and quick with ATVO’s express connection service.
This is the only direct transfer from Mestre railway station to Marco Polo airport in Venice that makes a single intermediate stop in Mestre center (in Corso del Popolo, in front of the homonymous theater): in 17 minutes you will be in front of the entrance of the terminal!
The coaches are all new generation, comfortable, equipped with air conditioning and Wi – Fi free and unlimited on board. The price of a one-way trip is 8€ and the return trip costs 15€ (transport of one piece of luggage included).
Please note that the ATVO stop is located in the square that you will find 20 meters to your right once you get off the stairs of the station (not to be confused with that of ACTV, the urban transport service, which is located in front of the stairs).
Taxis from Venice station to the airport and how much does it cost?
You may be wondering why we present the private taxi transfer in the same paragraph. The answer is simple. Even if you are leaving from Santa Lucia station, we advise you to take a taxi (car) from Piazzale Roma so as to lower the cost of travel to 40 € (instead of the 120 € water taxi).
The cars of the cooperative artisan radio taxi in Piazzale Roma are located next to the bus lanes, while in Mestre you will find them just to your right down the stairs of the station.
