Other practical information

Once you have made your booking, you will receive an email containing all the relevant information about the event; this will also include instructions on how to request and arrange any costume hire and other additional services available.

Collecting your invitation: on the day of the event, please take your booking voucher to the organising company’s offices to collect your invitation, which has been designed and personalised by hand by the organiser; this must be shown at the entrance to the party.

Historical costume hire: those who do not opt for the costume hire service will be asked to send a photo of the costume they intend to wear at the event in order to receive authorisation from the organising company.

Photo Release – with the purchase of the ticket:

you authorise the organising company and all those acting on its behalf to take your image on television, photographic or film media with the right to use it for editorial, promotional or any other publication purposes;
you renounce your image rights without limitation of time and without any consideration in your favour; this renunciation does not, however, permit the use of the images in contexts that are detrimental to personal dignity and decorum and in any case for use and/or purposes other than those indicated above;
you hereby declare that you aware that the use of personal video cameras, cameras and photographic equipment is not permitted during the event.

Entry times

For all tickets that include access to the full event, entry is at 8.30 pm.
For holders of ‘The Doge’s Lounge’ tickets, entry is at 11.00 pm.
For holders of “After Dinner Party” tickets, entry is at midnight.
The event ends at 3.00 am.

Please ensure you arrive on time for all sessions to ensure the evening runs smoothly.

Sales Conditions

The price paid includes a 3% handling fee.
Once the booking has been confirmed, no refunds will be issued in the event of cancellation by the customer, and no grounds for cancellation will be accepted, including personal or travel-related issues; taking out private travel insurance is strongly recommended.
In the event of the event being cancelled by the organiser due to health restrictions or force majeure (e.g. Covid), a refund of 90 per cent of the ticket price will be provided, or a voucher of the same value valid for one year will be issued; please note that VivoVenetia and the organiser are not liable for any financial losses related to your stay.

The Doge’s Ball, “Il Ballo del Doge”, was first staged in 1994. It takes place every year during the Carnival of Venice and each edition is dedicated to a new theme. Its creator, Antonia Sautter, is a stylist and organizer of exclusive events.

The 2027 edition is the 34rd edition of this iconic event and we can’t wait to find out what it will give us; it will certainly amaze us as it does every year and even more!

The 2026 edition was unforgettable! The theme of the next edition 2027 has not yet been announced but we are sure it will be something exciting!

The Doge’s Ball is a unique event and as such there are several ways to participate and many useful services to prepare and experience it at its best.

Admission Tickets “Ballo del Doge”

At this masquerade ball, a costume is compulsory. You can hire it directly from the organiser’s atelier. The costume fitting is itself a real event and a moment you will not forget. You can choose from more than 1,500 unique costumes, handmade with passion.

A unique venue: Scuola Grande della Misericordia

The 2027 edition will take place at the majestic Scuola Grande della Misericordia, located in the Cannaregio district at the end of the fondamenta.

This unique building dominates the northern part of the historic centre of Venice.

The “Scuola Grande di Santa Maria della Misericordia” was the seat of a school of Battuti di Venezia that was among the richest and most active between the early 14th and early 19th centuries.

Today, great restoration work has made it an ideal location for Venice’s most sumptuous events.

Venice Carnival Doge’s Ball 2027: Frequently Asked Questions

The dress code is strictly Period Costume. All guests must wear high-quality historical costumes (15th to 19th century). Casual wear, evening gowns, or simple tuxedos without a historical costume will not be granted access to the Scuola Grande della Misericordia.

It depends on the ticket category selected. Premium and Full Tickets generally include the costume rental from Antonia Sautter’s Atelier, including fitting sessions and accessories. After-Dinner tickets do not include the costume rental, which must be booked separately.

he event takes place at the historical Scuola Grande della Misericordia, located at Sestiere Cannaregio, 3599, 30121 Venice (VE), Italy. The location is easily accessible by water taxi or a short walk from the Ca’ d’Oro waterbus (vaporetto) stop.

Tickets for The Doge’s Ball are non-refundable. We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers event cancellations. If the organization modifies the schedule, specific terms and recovery options will be communicated directly to ticket holders.

The Doge’s Lounge ticket grants access to the Scuola Grande della Misericordia from 11:00 PM including a reserved seat in the Midnight Lounge and dedicated hospitality services. The After Dinner ticket grant access from midnight. It includes the international open bar, the midnight show, and admission to the dance floor with DJ sets until 03:00 AM. It does not include the gala dinner or the initial welcoming shows.
