A treasure hunt in the form of a guided, interactive tour to enjoy as a family with your children; here’s a Halloween event for younger children.
Armed with a paper map, LED lanterns, and bells, and accompanied by our guide, you’ll set out to piece together the ancient Book of Secrets of Venice. To find its lost pages before Halloween night falls, young and old alike will need to work as a team: the adults’ experience and the children’s intuition will be essential for deciphering clues and solving little puzzles and challenges.

Halloween on a Boat in the Venice Lagoon: Legends and Mysteries of the Islands
GUIDED BOAT TOUR OF THE LAGOON
It is said that as you sail through the Venice Lagoon at dusk, you can hear the sounds and echoes of the stories and legends hidden in the folds of history. On this 1-hour Halloween boat tour, we’ll sail through an authentically mysterious atmosphere to discover the secrets the lagoon hides.
IMPORTANT. You can choose between:
- the boat tour only (1 hour);
- a longer version lasting 2 hours and 30 minutes, which includes a 1.5-hour Ghost Tour through the streets of the historic center before boarding the boat (see below for details on the Ghost Tour).

This is a very heartfelt occasion for young Venetians, who go around the city in small groups in the afternoon after school, around dusk. They sing a nursery rhyme and hitting pots and lids with wooden ladles, they ask passers-by and shopkeepers for some money. A very old local tradition that is also linked to a short pastry cake in the shape of a man on a horse, recalling the generosity of St Martin, who gave his cloak to a poor man!
Other activities for Halloween in Venice
A treasure hunt on Halloween is certainly a great way to celebrate this date, especially for the little ones; however, these are not the only fun activities one can do in the city.
For instance, talking about Halloween costumes in Venice immediately brings to mind the rich choice of carnival masks, typical of the city's tradition. Why not take advantage of the 31 October bridge to unleash your creativity? We can offer you various tantalising activities: the creation of a papier-mâché mask at workshops in the historic centre or on the islands; the preparation of beads or jewellery at workshops specialised in working Murano glass.

Did you know that at the time of the Serenissima masks were used not only for Carnival but throughout the year to conceal identity, to perform libertine acts and not at all in the light of day? The phenomenon was so widespread that it took the intervention of the Doge, the highest authority, to limit the disguise to festive moments only.
